
Karigiri - Once Bhirgu Maharshi cursed Gandharva brothers, Devadatta and Dhanunjaya to take shape of a mountain and one as an elephant. Kari – Means elephant; and Giri – means mountain, so the name Karigiri. As Srihari in his Narasimha roopa is there at Karigiri, he is also called as "Karigireesha".
Every year more than 20000 people are expected to attend the great rathotsava. Hundreds of special buses ply between the hills and Tumkur. It is about 65 kms from Bangalore and 25 kms from Dabaspet and 15 kms from Tumkur.
