canadian national exhibition Lake State Railway's Santa Train (2018)

When it comes to Michigan holiday traditions, Lake State Railway’s Santa Train has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. In 2018, Lake State operated its second annual Santa Train between Pinconning and Grayling, Michigan in celebration of the holiday season and to give back to those in need. Partnering with Toys for Tots, Lake State Railway and members from the communities it serves donated toys, clothes, and other gifts for families in need this holiday season.

The event was a huge success, with thousands of people coming out to see Santa, Mrs. Claus, and all of their friends. The train’s first stop was in Standish, where crowds lined-up to walk through the vintage passenger cars to meet Santa. On board the train, the children had an opportunity to share their Christmas wish-lists with Santa Claus, while their parents took plenty of memorable photos to capture the moment. The Santa Train is not only an opportunity for communities to come together in celebration of the holiday season, but is also a great way for Lake State Railway to build relationships with the communities it serves.
